Samsung Aims to Gain Traction in Global Online Music Market
September 28, 2012

Samsung Electronics plans to buy several digital content providers with an aim to spur the sales of its mobile phones worldwide, according to Reuters dated 26 September, 2012. In May 2012, Samsung bought online music provider mSpot in a bid to establish its own online music service platform Music Hub, which is similar to those launched by its rivals such as Android's Music Player, Apple's iTunes and Amazon's Cloud Player. Currently the service is pre-installed only on Samsung's high-end devices and will be available to its other products later such as Internet connected TVs. Through Music Hub, users can access online paid music services such as music downloads and uploads and personalized radio service with free promotions provided like month-long trials and give-away albums, according to the same source.
